Negambo– Sigiriya Before Sigiriya became a Kingdom, the Sigiriya Rock base and the places such as Pidurangala which were endowed with many Caves and a temple had been dwelled by Buddhist monks from around 3rd Century BC. It is also found that these areas had been inhabitant by people prior to King Kassapa's rein. Many Caves also have Brahmi Inscriptions dating back from 3rd Century BC to 1st century AD.
TA After breakfast Transfer to Sigriya relax at hotel many actives are possible Elephant Ride, Bullock Cart tour in the village , http://sigiriya.org Vist and Climb /The Sigiriya Rock Fortress of Sri Lanka is situated in Matale district near to Dambulla. It can be reached along Colombo- Habarana highway and turning towards East from Inamaluwa. Then proceeding about 10 km from Inamaluwa and passing Kimbissa township one arrives at Sigiriya.
Sigiriya Join the eco team Village trail Talakote wewa Trail Start the jungle / village trail to Thalkote Wewa. [Tank] This is about 5.2km long and takes about 3 hours. This trail is going through few jungle patches / chaina cultivations, paddy fields. The terrain is flat and easy walking. You will be able to observe the real way of life of the villagers in this part of the country. Thalakote Wewe This ancient tank is located having the ancient Sigriya Rock Fortress and the Pidurangala Monastery Rock as the back drop. It provides a life line of water to many villagers in the area to cultivate their crops. Paddy / Onions and other varieties of vegetables are grown providing water from this tank. You can see many Tree houses, a semi permanent tall structures constructed by wood where farmers spend the night time. They take terns to be up during the night to have an eye on their crops which are easy edible targets for wild elephants and other animals. Keeping the "camp fire" alive is also an important duty! We will be even visiting typical village house and have a meal interacting with them. [ As you ar are going to be a gust in their house, please refarin offering any money directly. As per our CSR policy we are making sure that thye benefit by your visit. However, a small gift from your country would be appeciated by them] Chaina Cultivation [slash & burn farming]This a very primitive agricultural method where farmers slash and burn jungle patches for cultivation of short term crops. They mainly depend on rain water and there will not be any major field preparations. Farmers usually rotate between 2 to 3 land plots. OUR RATES INCLUDE Local guide’s fees. Sigiriya - Kandy Transfer from Sigriya to Kandy -In the morning, Kandy's Royal Botanical Gardens, undertake a city tour in Kandy. Kandy perhaps is Sri Lanka’s most beautiful town. Set 488 meters above sea level, Kandy is Sri Lanka’s most visited place after Colombo. The focal point of the town is the golden-roofed ‘Dalada Maligawa’, where the sacred tooth relic of the Buddha is enshrined. Late evening visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic which is located in the royal palace complex which houses the Relic of the tooth of Buddha. The entire complex is part of another UNESCO world heritage site. On completion of the temple visit witness a cultural dance show.
Kandy – Nuwara Eliya After breakfast leisurely take a senic drive to Nuwara Eliya, (2 to 2.5 hour drive), with stops for photo opportunity on clients requests. Visit a tea plantation en route, enjoy a tour of the hill resort of Nuwara Eliya. Thereafter, continue your sightseeing tour of the town called “Little England” Nuwara Eliya which is set in the heart of tea-country. Nuwara Eliya is a charming town where the British succeeded in creating a replica of the English countryside, with homes in styles from Georgian to Queen Anne. Well-kept lawns with hedges, an Anglican Church, a famous golf course and beautiful parks give the place an air of nostalgia. Situated 6,200 feet above sea level, the air is cool and fresh – a serene retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city life. On completion continue to Hatton and check-in to beautiful hotel. Evening a walk in the surrounded area is highly recommended
Nuwara Eliya - Belihuloya SCHEDULE After breakfast, proceed to Belihuloya - TA From River Gadren Resort travel 5km to Kinchigune village which borders the Samanalawewa reservoir. From Kinchigune, travel passing the Samanalawewa reservoir dam, to Pambahinna where you turn off and proceed to Kalthota (9km). From Kalthota, travel 26km on a hilly road uphill to Balangoda where you will meet the main road leading to Belihuloya. Total cycling distance approximately 40km from Belihuloya to Kalthota and from there upto Balangoda [4 ½ Hours - Hard to Moderate Cycling Route ] You have the option of traveling the remaining 16km from Balangoda to Belihuloya by cycle or by your vehicle. Galle will be your next stop, the city with a colourful history which is declared to be a World Heritage Site. The jewel of this city is the enchanting beach called “Unawatuna” where you can dive, drive and thrive your enthusiasm.
After relaxing at the beach side of “Unawatuna”, you’ll be returned back to Bentota, and visit the Turtle Hatchery in Kosgoda. You will be empathized by seeing an innocent scenery of tanks filled with new born turtle hatchlings.
The night will be spent in a granular hotel to gather up the memories you had during this memorizing week
